The studio experience

Pilates exercise is best known to most people as a series of mat-based exercises. However Pilates can also be performed on specialised equipment which uses springs to create resistance against the user's movement, thus targeting specific muscle groups.

A session with Jo at The Human Movement Clinic uses the Reformer, Stability Chair and numerous smaller Pilates props allowing for hundreds of exercise variations.

The studio also features TRX Suspension Training. Using the TRX in conjunction with Pilates will further challenge your core strength, balance, mobility and endurance for a total body workout.

Finally, be assured that when you practice with Jo in the studio on a one to one basis you do so safely and with confidence. The studio benefits from plenty of fresh air flow and is thoroughly cleaned between appointments. The only thing you need to focus on are the movements and exercises that will leave you feeling great!

The Equipment

The Human Movement Clinic features state of the art STOTT PILATES® machines. Engineered for maximum effectiveness and limitless exercise possibilities, they guarantee the ultimate one to one Pilates experience.

 
 

Reformer

The Reformer glides forward and backwards on rollers and uses springs for resistance, along with other attachments, for a wide variety of exercises and positions (i.e. lying down, seated and standing). The unique spring resistance of this machine helps generate smooth muscular contractions that develop strength without bulk.

Stability Chair

Like the Reformer the Stability Chair uses springs to create resistance. The Stability Chair is ideal for those who need to stay in a seated or upright position. The Chair helps rebalance muscles and provides a full-body workout. It also facilitates high-performance exercises for athletes and the very fit.

TRX Suspension Training

Using the TRX Suspension Trainer displaces the body’s centre of gravity which activates the core musculature during every exercise. Use your body weight through multiple progressions to challenge your strength, mobility and balance. TRX training integrates perfectly into your Pilates session.
